Author of the booklet: Marie LORILLARD – Cultural mediator at La Rochelle

Marie LORILLARD has obtained her doctoral degree in anthropology from the University of Bordeaux II in 2007. She has obtained a research allowance from 2002 to 2005 for work on the notion of suffering in the Senufo society (West Africa). Parallel to this research, she has taught History of Ideas and Anthropological Methods at the University of Bordeaux II.

As she also holds a DESS-degree in Cultural Mediation from the University of Metz, she is today employed as a cultural mediator in a theatre company at La Rochelle, the Odyssée Théâtre, in which she organises workshops for disadvantaged groups in urban quarters and prisons. After having participated in the collective reflection on the concept of the exhibition Paroles d’Afrique of the Ethnography Museum of Bordeaux Segalen, she has developed the pedagogical concepts in collaboration with different Africanist researchers and staff of the museum.
